Ethos

Talisman Fine Jewelry is guided by the ethos of "less is more," making pieces that are seasonless, genderless, and timeless. Our minimalist solid 14k gold jewelry is intended to be worn every day, and to be passed down for generations. We believe that creating heirloom products helps prevent waste from overconsumption, in a world where last season's clothing and accessories are tossed into overflowing landfills. We also believe that good design should be timeless, and that quality, handmade jewelry is for everybody, regardless of gender, orientation, race, religion or nationality.
We use recycled 14k gold in all of our cast and fabricated pieces, and our 14k gold layering chains from Italy and beyond are all made using ethically-sourced gold. Furthermore, we use reclaimed diamonds in our collection, and make an effort to source other semiprecious stones as responsibly as possible. Leftover scrap gold from making our jewelry is also recycled back into pieces such as the Mini Orb Studs and Diamond Mini Orb Studs, making our process virtually waste-less.
Talisman Fine Jewelry is committed to the idea that "as we know better, we do better," meaning that we make our jewelry using the most sustainable practices that we know of. Our commitment to sustainability does not mean that we're perfect - for example, sourcing stones overseas inherently leaves a carbon footprint. But our commitment to reducing waste and sourcing responsibly means that we are constantly updating our practices for the betterment of earth.
Talisman Fine Jewelry is designed and goldsmithed by Vanessa Barcus, a queer woman of mixed Ashkenazi Jewish and European descent. It is her personal priority to create jewelry that is inclusive of all lifestyles and genders - including nontraditional commitment rings and other pieces that speak to the queer experience.
All of our jewelry comes warrantied for a lifetime of wear: If your item breaks or has issues by no fault of your own, outside of the normal wear and tear, we will happily fix or replace it. That's because we stand behind the quality of the work we put into the world.
Thank you for supporting this small, queer-owned business!
