The Ouroboros Ring is my abstract, handmade take on the ancient symbol of the ouroboros - the snake perpetually eating its own tail, representing the cycles of life, death, and rebirth (or as Jung would say, our own assimilation and integration of our shadow sides, and subsequent rebirth).
The earliest known origins of the ouroboros come from Egyptian inscriptions on the tomb of Tutankhamun, where the serpent was believed to be the protector of Ra in the underworld, as well as a representation of the beginning and end of time. Later assimilated by the Romans and found on magical talismans, the ouroboros was also adopted by Gnostics, alchemists, and is similarly found in Norse mythology, as well as South American indigenous mythology, among others.
