With the current pandemic fueling a rotating carousel of feelings (and making a veritable rollercoaster out of my brain), I was inspired to channel these emotions into a creative project. Styling and creative directing – part of my other work, for those new here – are two of my favorite ways to tell a story. And frankly, 2020 is one hell of a story to tell. So I enlisted the help of photographer Sara Ford and makeup artist Lillian Marsh to document the anxiety, depression, and, well, boredom that seem to be the companions of quarantine life. Told through a lens that’s just a little bit campy and a lotta bit satirical, the result was “Quarantine.” With Lily as our starlet, the shoot features Talisman’s Alchemy Collection, along with clothing graciously lent by Queen City General Store, as well as pieces from Regal Vintage and Boss Vintage here in Denver. Dare I say, we may have managed to eek out some fun from this quarantine situation after all…
