Also known to some as our spiritual sun, any astronomer will tell you that Sirius is actually a dual-star system. While Sirius A is the most visible, Sirius B is its fainter, yet much hotter, white dwarf sister. Some legends even maintain that there is a third star, Sirius C, invisible to our human eyes.
